Parent Involvement for African American History Month

Parent Involvement for African American History Month

Parents at Burton showed tremendous support as our parent involvement efforts centered around African American History Month. Families came together to celebrate the rich history, culture, and contributions of African Americans, creating an atmosphere filled with pride, learning, and unity. The program highlighted meaningful moments and influential figures who have shaped our nation, and parents actively participated in discussions and activities that reinforced the importance of cultural awareness and education. We were especially honored to welcome our distinguished guest speaker, Board of Education Member Bishop Dr. Corletta J. Vaughn, whose powerful words inspired both parents and students and emphasized the importance of education, leadership, and community involvement.

We were also proud to have students from Ladies of Excellence at our school present to support the program, serving as positive role models and assisting throughout the event. Their involvement added an extra layer of empowerment and leadership to the celebration. Additionally, food was catered, which created a warm and welcoming environment where families could connect, converse, and strengthen relationships within the Burton community. Moving forward, we hope to continue building on this momentum and encourage even greater parent involvement in future events to further strengthen our partnership between home and school.
