Celebrating 313 Day

Students at Burton International Academy had an exciting and memorable celebration for 313 Day, embracing the spirit and pride of Detroit in a fun and educational way. The day began with hands-on creativity as students designed their own vibrant tie-dye shirts, each one reflecting their individuality and school pride. Throughout the event, students had the unique opportunity to meet officers from the Detroit Police Department, who brought along their impressive mounted unit horses. This experience allowed students to learn more about community policing while interacting up close with the horses in a safe and engaging environment.

The celebration continued with enriching activities led by PBS Kids, who brought out the beloved Clifford the Big Red Dog, delighting students of all ages. Students also enjoyed meeting cheerleaders from the Detroit Lions, who shared their enthusiasm and encouraged school spirit. The day wrapped up with a lively party where students celebrated together, dancing, laughing, and reflecting on a day full of community connection, learning, and fun.
